Alec Baldwin: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Jack Donaghy - 30 Rock

Every sitcom has its breakout star, be it a Kosmo (Seinfeld), Chandler (Friends), George (Arrested Development) or a Sheldon (The Big Bang Theory), this punchy genre needs that character that steals the show no matter what the episode is about. So, when Tina Fey brought her treatment for an altogether different type of show to producer Lorne Michaels, both couldn't have envisaged that it would be a pushing fifty Alec Baldwin that would be the hit character. But there's simply no denying that Jack Donaghy is the star of Fey's smart meta comedy, where his portrayal of a slick yet scrupulous NBC exec never fails to lift an episode and the lines he spouts - "I like you. You have the boldness of a much younger woman." - never fail to draw a laugh. This Emmy-eating turn is, as it stands, the man's very best.
