Alien: Covenant - 18 WTF Moments

1. Why Freeze The Facehugger Embryos?

Alien Facehugger
20th Century Fox

The film's final moments show David regurgitating two facehugger embryos and placing them into refrigeration along with the human embryos. It's a distinctly disturbing moment in large part because of the ambiguity. Is David freezing the embryos in order to unleash them on the colonists once they arrive on Origae-6? Or will he start growing them during the trip, in which case why even bother freezing them in the first place? Or could he end up somehow combining the facehugger and human embryos?

Scott clearly left things deliberately up in the air in order to give him and whoever writes Alien: Awakening plenty of space (ha!) to figure things out, but just like Prometheus, Covenant ended up asking more questions than it ultimately answered, and so it's easy to see why fans are frustrated.
