Aliens vs. Predators: Ranking The Films From Worst To Best
6. Prometheus (2012)
Of all the films on this list, 2012's Prometheus seems to be the one that divides people the most. As much a prequel to the original Alien as it is an attempt at launching a new, unshackled franchise, Ridley Scott's film was met with a generally positive critical response as well as a quite vocal group of people who hated it. If anything, most can agree that the film is visually stunning, highly ambitious and that the performances of Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender help to make the whole thing palatable. However, it stumbles in its plotting, character work and dialogue, a fine example of which is seen in the illogical hypocrisy of the crew's biologist, who was afraid of dead remains yet happily interacts with a dangerous, living alien creature shortly after. The film also aims to play with many intriguing concepts, raising a number of questions in the process that it fails to suitably answer for a large number of viewers. Free of its obligation to link up to the Alien series, the upcoming sequel has a chance to improve upon the foundation laid down by Prometheus and enjoy its freedom of not having the audience wondering when the Alien is going to show up. It may not have lived up to the expectations of many, but its merits help it from becoming the abysmal disaster it's so often made out to be by "the Internet."
