6. Hugo "Dies"

If Tanji's death was a genuinely shocking and effective moment, it was hard to much care when Hugo found himself on the business end of Zapan's blade.

After Zapan reveals to Alita that Hugo has been attacking cyborgs and stripping them for parts to sell to Vector (Mahershala Ali), he stabs Hugo in the gut and leaves him to bleed out.

In his final moments, Hugo repents for his actions - after totally downplaying them like a minute prior - and declares his love for Alita. Yawn.

But of course, death isn't the end, and the convenient arrival of Chiren allows Alita to keep Hugo "alive" by decapitating him and somehow plugging his vitals into Alita's body.

Dr. Ido then later attaches his head to a cyborg body, miraculously without him sustaining any brain damage whatsoever.

Seriously, is this the most gruesome PG-13 movie of all time?
