5. The Wolverine (2013)

Taking place a few years after X-Men: The Last Stand, The Wolverine mostly wants to stand alone and not bother with any of the past continuity.

Wolverine went to live in the woods of Canada after killing Jean at the end of the last movie. He also got all of his memories back at some point, which to be fair, happens about as abruptly as it did in the comics.

This movie came out at a strange time, arriving between First Class and Days of Future Past. Unless people were really paying attention, I'm sure some audience members were confused since this movie is a sequel to a trilogy that had been completed while a prequel trilogy was already underway.

The mid credits scene is the confusing part. As mentioned on the last page, Xavier is miraculously back from the dead and still in a wheelchair. Since he's alive again and in a new body, it seems strange that he would have the same physical condition. Let's continue to make excuses for these movies and say the brain dead twin was never able to develop any muscle strength, so Xavier still has to be in a wheelchair.
