Beauty And The Beast still feels like a Greatest Hits collaboration of everything that came before it: the backgrounds are artistic and richly drawn, the characters engaging and utterly charming, and the music is absolutely unrivalled. Coupled with those old pillars, the studio integrated digital animation techniques - in particular creating the spellbinding ballroom sequence that remains impressive to this day.

The film has a way of burrowing into your heart and leaving affection: the songs are up there with Aladdin, The Lion King and Hercules as the very best and there's a very real chance that the live action remake will make Disney another billion next year.
