49. Make Mine Music (1946)

Alongside the traditional feature format movies, Make Mine Music - with its ten disparate episodes and its folksy virtues - is something of an oddity. It's basically a Frankenstein's monster of a film, pulling scraps of half-developed ideas left over during the Second World War into a whole designed mostly to keep Disney ticking over as a film division.

That it is even watchable is somewhat remarkable, and it's largely for that reason that Make Mine Music is considered as something of an afterthought. It's a curio, with interesting ideas and whispers of what could have been without a world war, but beyond that, its appeal is a little limited.

48. Saludos Amigos (1942)

With the war tearing the world apart, Disney unveiled Saludos Amigos as the first in six package films designed to keep the studio alive while more important issues happened elsewhere and around the production of propaganda films.

Like its fellow package films, Saludos Amifos is a mostly forgettable, short animated romp, taking in a tour of South America that should definitely not be used as any sort of educational guide. It's charming enough in places, but there's a reason most people even forget it exists.
