6. Tiananmen Square
Following on from Peter Parker's support of Burma (via the poster in his room,) there's another message relating to Asian political history in the finale of the film when Spider-Man faces off against the suit-wearing Rhino. With Spider-Man off the grid after the devastating events that precede Rhino's escape, a small boy who he inspires earlier in the film steps out to take on the hulking mech in his place, symbolically showing New York's plucky human spirit. The moment is very reminiscent of the iconic Tank Man image from Tiananmen Square in the wake of the 1989 protests, which cannot be accidental given the framing.
