9. ... And So Will The Spider Slayers
The same goes for The Spider Slayers, lead by the son of their inventor, The Ultimate Spider Slayer - otherwise known as Alistair Smythe, who has a very brief cameo in the sequel thanks to B J Novak. His association with Max Dillon appeared simply to be a means to making everyone associated with Oscorp look like horrible inhuman devils, with the name merely thrown in for a pleasant nod for the fans, but the viral marketing attached to the film suggests that there's been more ground-work laid for the character to develop as he does in the comics. Adding in the confirmation from the producers that the seeds will likely germinate as fans will hope, and it looks like the head of Oscorp's tech division will go from secondary antagonist to fully formed super-villain, whether that is in a future Spider-Man movie, or in a spin-off. The smart money would be on the former, since a spin-off without a Spider-Man would clearly render the slaying robots useless.
