Ant-Man And The Wasp Trailer Reactions: 8 Ups & 4 Downs

7. The Banter (And Avoiding Too Much Luis)

As Civil War proved, what you get when you bring Paul Rudd into your comic book movie is the kind of charisma and disarming charm he's made a career out of. He's one of the best in the business at banter and the clash between Rudd's goofy everyman and Michael Douglas' straighter Hank Pym and Evangeline Lily's almost icy Hope Van Dyne was a big part of what made the first movie so enjoyable.

Obviously Michael Pena's Luis was a bigger part of the comedic success of Ant-Man And The Wasp's predecessor and there was probably lots of temptation to go full Minions and double down on him for the sequel. Thankfully, the marketing heads decided against that and all we actually got of Luis was a brief flash of him.

In place of him bogarting the comedy, there's more of Lang clashing gently with Pym and Van Dyne and that's a much better way to sell this.
