Ant-Man Has A Major Avengers Cameo (And Marvel Just Spoiled It)

The Spanish trailer ruined a big surprise.

Ant-Man's had something of an Avengers problem. Putting all the behind-the-scenes wrangling with directors aside, Marvel's latest has struggled to get fans excited thanks to a seeming disconnect from the franchise's big super team. The promise that Paul Rudd's Scott Lang will appear in Captain America: Civil War suggests it has some wider MCU importance, but thus far the film itself hasn't been able to fill that Iron Man sized hole. However, after some posters that mocked this school of thought and a throwaway gag about the super team in the trailer released last week, a Spanish TV spot has finally given in and revealed that there will actually be an Avengers cameo in the film. So, turns out Falcon will be making some sort of appearance in Ant-Man. This is totally unexpected, which probably means this is a bigger spoiler than the sudden glimpse suggests. It's not quite on the same level as Terminator Genisys' third-act reveal being the crux of the marketing, but it is a shame that such an awesome surprise has been ruined, particularly as this is likely to be a moment later on in the film (I imagine the scene will have a whiff of "I want to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative" about it). Anthony Mackie debuted as Sam Wilson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and had a small appearance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron earlier this year. Between this Ant-Man cameo and a bigger part in Captain America: Civil War, this means Mackie will have soon appeared in as many Marvel films as Chris Hemsworth. Crazy. Check out the full teaser below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLK7LVCOsLg Ant-Man is out on 17th July.
