19. Everybody Gets Sucked Into The Quantum Realm

The main plot kicks off when Cassie reveals to Scott that she spent the five years of the Blip studying Hank's notes and basically getting acquainted with the scientific particulars of the Quantum Realm.

Better still, she managed to build what Hank describes as a "subatomic Hubble telescope" in the family basement, allowing her to send a signal to the Quantum Realm and potentially even map it out.

This immediately panics Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), whose fraught past in the Quantum Realm - being inadvertently responsible for helping Kang wreak havoc - causes her to try and shut the device off.

But alas, it's of course too late, and a portal opens which sucks the five of them into the Quantum Realm. In the hallucinogenic sequence that follows, Scott turns into Giant Man to prevent Cassie falling to her death.

It may be a convoluted and logically flimsy set up for the rest of the movie, but at least we got a trippy arrival sequence out of it, right?
