2. Lawrence Fishburne Is Mostly Wasted

"Laurence Fishburne doesn’t get much to chew on as Bill Foster (no relation to Jane) either, but we get enough intriguing hints about his history with Hank and SHIELD to make us wonder if he might show up in Captain Marvel." - IGN
"It’s unfortunate that the screenplay (which features five writers, including Rudd) weighs down the plot with a cumbersome feud between Hank and a former academic partner-turned-rival played by Lawrence Fishburne. (Douglas seems to relish the opportunity to play an acerbic mad scientist, but Fishburne just phones it in.)" - IndieWire

It's not terribly surprising that Lawrence Fishburne has a fairly small role in the movie as Hank Pym's old pal Bill Foster, though it is a shame that it apparently doesn't amount to a whole lot.

Opinion seems mixed on exactly what the point of his character is, but given Fishburne's screen-holding gravitas, it's a shame to hear him and several other actors being so summarily squandered.

Still, the prospect of Fishburne possibly re-appearing in future MCU movies sure is appealing. Make it happen, Marvel.
