Ant-Man & The Wasp Trailer 2 Reactions: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
2. The CGI's Pretty Rough
In addition to the bright, garish cinematography, the visual effects aren't exactly looking that spectacular, which is just a little worrying with the movie being barely two months away from release.
While the inherent creativity of the effects is absolutely beyond dispute, the visual fidelity of the CGI doesn't seem on par with the imagination on display, such that several sequences look incredibly rough and blurry.
Take the climactic set-piece, where a tiny van containing Luis (Michael Peña) and Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) is very nearly crushed by a larger van, throwing a bunch of bricks and debris at the screen. Unfortunately it's an ugly, murky, blurry mess of particle effects and muted colours and, basically, looks many, many years out of date.
Sure, there's the typical argument that the effects can be tightened up over the next few months, but it's rare that we get a night-and-day difference in the end product.
