Ant-Man Viral Video Sets Up Civil War, Black Panther And More

Everything you need to know about Marvel's Phase 3 in one fake news clip.

Marvel have been absolutely insisting Ant-Man is going to be a big part of their Cinematic Universe, prompting everyone and their mum's film blogs to make puns about Scott Lang's diminutive super-powers. Well, jokes on all of us, because turns out the film might actually set up Phase 3. Like, every part of Phase 3. And not even in the film itself, but the marketing materials. Phase 3's the part of the MCU's grand scheme that kicks off with Captain America: Civil War, where Steve Rogers and Tony Stark have some frank, honest discussions about the morality and legality of vigilante superheroes. At least, that's what happened in the comics. And that's all but been confirmed as happening in the film, too, with this here viral video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ3es8ABb3k Technically it's advertising Ant-Man, as the fake news report quickly moves onto discussing master thief Scott Lang, but that's not before a brief mention of the mass destruction caused by Iron Man in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and a suggestion that maybe the government shouldn't let drunk billionaires and 90-year-old soldiers do whatever they want. The ticker text along the bottom also hints at the company's plans past Ant-Man and the next Captain America. For one thing, there's a nod to Black Panther when it mentions a massive earthquake rocking Southern Africa - which includes the nation of Wakanda the hero rules over, as mentioned in the second Avengers. Plus it features some more ridiculous Marvel movie continuity. Thor's Jane Foster gets a mention, Hydra's Baron Von Strucker is confirmed dead after Age Of Ultron, and that news reporter is Leslie Bibb, last seen as a reporter for Vanity Fair who wound up in Tony Stark's bed in Iron Man 2. Just you wait, she'll be called up for active duty by Nick Fury once they get to Avengers XII: So Very Tired. Ant-Man is out on July 17, 2015. Captain America: Civil War is due to hit theatres May 6, 2016.What do you think? Excited for Civil War? Excited for Ant-Man? Discuss all the hints down in the comments.
