4. Che - Evita (1996)

Evita may more pertinently be remembered for the work of Madonna as the titular lead, and the improbable casting of Geordie musical legend Jimmy Nail as her creepy old lover, but you can't under-estimate the importance played by Banderas' Che Guevara.

Obviously, the film's commitment to history is at best a little iffy (and at worst wildly, grossly inaccurate) but Banderas' entirely fictional version of the student T-shirt staple is one of the best things about it. Despite the liberties taken, his Guevara is a surprisingly excellent way in for the audience, and he has the kind of charisma that makes the fact that what he's actually saying is occasionally a bit silly redundant.

He is as good as Madonna is limited, and while it's supposed to be her movie, it's through his eyes that we see her, and luckily he offers a commanding presence that is piqued by his trademark passion. He gives remarkably good frown.
