Apostle Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Incredible Musical Score

Evans sensibly collaborated once again with his usual composers Fajar Yusekemal and Aria Prayogi for Apostle, and the result is a wonderfully evocative and ferociously intense musical score.

The music is absolutely paramount in cementing the film's tone, ranging from more subtle string pieces during moments of quiet, to full-out booming choruses and wild drum sections when things go haywire. That it can feel unique while working with such familiar elements is extremely impressive.

While it's unlikely to garner any awards attention whatsoever - though in a just world it absolutely would - this is nevertheless one of the most memorably intense and evocative scores from 2018 so far.
