8. Arthur Arrives In Atlantis

While it's clear that James Wan is trying to make Atlantis cinema's new Pandora, for the most part it doesn't quite evoke the same feeling of awe-inspired wonder.

However, the first time Mera brings Arthur to Atlantis is a truly majestic sight indeed, with Wan focusing on the kingdom's array of luminescent flora and fauna, as well as a series of reclaimed, ruined buildings, all brought to staggering life by some of the movie's most impressive visual effects.

It's a shame there wasn't more time devoted to visual world-building like this, because it's a sequence where you can absolutely see where a decent chunk of that hefty $200 million budget actually went.
