Are Freddy And Jason Dead Again?

In the past two years Platinum Dunes have rebooted both of 80's flagship slasher franchises A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th with hack-job, brain dead productions, pissing a lot of people off in the process and despite both making a healthy wad of cash - a sequel to neither looks close today. Simply put, the beloved horror characters Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees look to be dead once again, just one film entry each into their respective new reboots! Brad Fuller, producer of both reboots, has revealed on twitter (via Den of Geek) to not expect sequels anytime soon; Friday the 13th;
"Shannon and Swift wrote a great script... We are ready to go, when New Line is ready. But as of yet, they are not ready. Rated R horror movies, right now, don't seem to generate interest from the studios."
Don't blame the climate Fuller, blame your first movie for why New Line won't touch a Jason sequel which otherwise sounds like it's good to go. In terms of Nightmare on Elm Street;
"As for Freddy... as far as I know, there isnt [sic] even talk of writing another script."
Whilst I would love to see a new Freddy and Jason movie every three years or so... I don't particularly want to see anymore entries from Platnium Dunes. Two movies that look closer to happening are the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie which he expects to have more script details turned in sometime in March, whilst a Rob Cohen-directed remake of The Monster Squad is currently being re-written by Mark and Brian Gunn in the hope of a new screenplay to land on Fuller's desk in a fortnight.
