Arnie's 10 Point Guide To Being A Total Badass

2. The Wife Getting You Down? "Divorce" Her

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb-XAB2q0rk There's a widely-held belief that Arnie is a bit of a misogynist in real life, given his numerous sexual assault scandals and the recent reveal that he sired a love-child with his house-keeper. His on-screen persona, while nowhere near as slimy, certainly puts women in their place, primarily drawn from the casual sexism of the 1980s, making classically flippant phrases such as, from Conan the Barbarian, "crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women" totally permissible. In Raw Deal, his crazy wife gets drunk and throws a cake at him, to which he retorts in brilliantly dead-pan fashion, "You should not drink and bake". His best fracas with a woman, though, has to be with Sharon Stone in Total Recall; Stone, his apparent wife, shows up on Mars much to his confusion, attesting, "Be reasonable, after all, we're married". After realising he's being duped, Arnie pops a cap in her dome, and retorts, "Consider it a divorce". Though man-on-woman violence is rightly abhorred by most, this is one instance where it's thoroughly deserved, and the punch-line is absolute gold. How does Arnie get over his...divorce? He hooks up with the local hooker, of course.
