1. Running Assassinations
Running assassinations might sound like a relatively small deal but again I maintain that Assassin's Creed is about smoothness and flow - Ubisoft must be commended for their largely successful attempts to refine their mechanics in the pursuit of that idea. In AC III, Connor is all about remaining constantly moving - invariably why they've removed the comically overemphasised Ezio-style trip and fall when sprinting through heavy crowds. One of the biggest new features that supports this are the new running execution moves which, as the name implies, allows you to assassinate targets while running. I really can't describe how smoothly satisfying this mechanic is once you fully get your head around its nuances (you can't perform running assassinations in Open Battle, for example, but as part of a stealthy, silent massacre, it really is invaluable). Again, it's a great mechanic and once more, it's brand new to AC III. Leading me to argue that, yes, here the third time really is the charm. So there you have our ten reasons that AC III is the finest offering from the franchise so far. Agree? Disagree? Let me hear about it, why don'tcha?!
