ASTRO BOY director gets FLUSHED AWAY!

Imagi Studio's big $50 million CG animated venture ASTRO BOY has had a change of director. Colin Brady, the man responsible for the mega animated flop EVERYONE'S HERO in 2006 has been replaced by David Bowers, the more accomplished helmer of FLUSHED AWAY. No word given as to why the change but it may just be the case of Bowers being more experienced having worked in animation for longer (he began as an animator on WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?) and of course with FLUSHED AWAY, he at least directed a movie people went to see. ASTRO BOY is the adaptation of a Manga comic series of a robot created by a scientist to replace his dead son, who becomes a superhero who must save the planet from destruction by alien invaders. At the moment all we have on the movie is the following poster and that it will be co-distributed by WB and the Weinsteins in 2009...
