Avengers 4: 11 Things It Must Avoid
10. Tony & Pepper Have A Baby
Infinity War hinted greatly at the possibility of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) having a baby in the future, with Tony having a dream that seemed to foreshadow it.
But honestly, with so much already going on, does Avengers 4 really need such a melodramatic subplot thrown into the mix? It's such a simplistic, lazy way to add greater emotional stakes to the narrative.
And honestly, isn't the baby foreshadowing so much more interesting as a red herring, and the dream was instead nodding towards Tony seeing his surrogate son of sorts, Peter (Tom Holland), turn to dust before his very eyes?
Will It Happen?: Honestly, this is a tough one. The Russos and their writers do love to subvert expectations and this does feel like a pretty broad subplot for their work on the franchise, but with all the chips on the table, they might be unable to resist raising Tony's personal stakes as high as humanly possible.
It would potentially present Stark with a major personal dilemma at Avengers 4's climax - sacrificing himself for both Pepper and his unborn child, perhaps? - so we'll go with yes, as corny as it might be.
