5. Hawkeye Is Ronin, But Who Has He Just Stabbed?
Throughout Infinity War, a vast contingent of Hawkeye fans (yes, there are a lot of them) took to social media to enquire as to the whereabouts of Clint Barton. The character, played by Jeremy Renner on the big screen, sat out Infinity War to look after his family, but he's returned for the sequel - and the reasons why could be very dark indeed.
When we find Barton he's in Japan. Black Widow has tracked him down, he's dressed head to toe in black and gold, and he's just stabbed what looks to be a member of the Yakuza. Previous speculation has hinted that Hawkeye could be there to track down the Skrulls, but with Barton now going by the mantle of Ronin, it looks as though he's no longer one for teamwork, and that he in particular was left worse for wear by the decimation.
Captain America provides the narration for much of the trailer, and the cut to Clint coincides with Steve's comment on how "we lost family." This seems like a blatant hint that Hawkeye's wife and children perished in the wake of Thanos' actions, and with their presence the only thing keeping him from suiting back up, it looks as though he has nothing left to lose.
In any case, Hawkeye looks set to play a major role in Avengers 4, and with his family likely gone, we could be about to enter some seriously dark territory indeed.
