2. The Inevitability Of A Sad End?

So how does this all end? Are both men destined to be made to make the ultimate sacrifice to live out their agendas to give everything for the cause? Will we see both of them die before the end of Avengers 4?

It's hauntingly possible. Thanos' death would suit the MCU's usual bloodlust when it comes to villains (and he's probably too powerful to simply cast off somewhere to lick his wounds or reconsider his life's motivation - as he was in the comics) and Tony appears to have had a death wish ever since he rode that Nuke out of Earth's atmosphere in The Avengers. The fact that he basically told Peter Parker that the trip to space on the Black Order ship was a one-way ticket proves where his mind is.

And it would probably be satisfying to see Tony give up his life for the survival of his allies and Earth in the end. It would suit the traditional trajectory of a character who starts off as a conceited, arrogant douchebag and learns humility, accountability and moral integrity along the way. And thanks to his company's former weapons dealing business, he has a LOT of red in his ledger that his death might actually justify.

But, there is a chance though, that Tony might see into the mirror and find a chance of redemption in the lesson...
