2. New Villains (Or Any Fox Characters)

One of the (many) rumours for Avengers 4 is that we’ll be seeing a new villain brought in as an even Bigger Bad than Thanos. This partly stems from some leaked merchandising, which teased new threats, along with the general rule of sequel escalation.

Muddled within that is Disney’s purchase of Fox, giving them the rights to a whole new wealth of characters. It’s not hard to see why some people might assume one of those could be the new villain, because while Thanos is difficult to top, someone like Galactus (currently owned by Fox) would fit the bill.

We shouldn’t expect a major new villain just yet though, because Thanos himself still needs to be dealt with. There may be setup for the next future threat, such as the Skrulls, but that’s going to happen in the film itself, with little relevance to marketing this.

That goes for Fox characters as a whole too. The deal hasn’t been finalised yet, and until that happens Disney can’t start advertising Fox content in its movies - though fans might expect it, like Spider-Man turning up in the Captain America: Civil War trailer. Fox’s Marvel characters in the MCU will happen, it just won’t be with Avengers 4.
