Avengers 5: 10 Possible Storylines It Would Be Awesome To See In The MCU

Avengers 5 hasn't been officially announced, but there are already some exciting possibilities...

Marvel Studios' entire Phase 4 slate has been delayed as a result of the ongoing global situation, and while Avengers 5 was never officially part of that, it will now be arriving in theaters even later than whenever Kevin Feige originally had it pencilled in for. The same applies to the planned introduction of the Fantastic Four and X-Men, and that's just something fans will have to accept for the time being.

There's certainly no harm in looking ahead to what comes next, though, and after Avengers: Endgame served as an epic finale to over a decade's worth of storytelling (as well as delivering a record-breaking box office haul), there's no way Disney will sit on the franchise for long. A fifth instalment is bound to happen at some point.

The question is, when it does, which of the many storylines from Marvel Comics should Kevin Feige consider adapting?

There are some obvious choices like Secret Wars, but it's still way too soon for that, and there are other, less predictable options for where Marvel Studios can take the Avengers franchise next. It's those you'll find here, along with a detailed look at how these classic comic book stories could fit into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, and where things are heading in Phase 4 and beyond...

10. Breakout

It's fair to say that Earth's Mightiest Heroes were "disassembled" in Avengers: Endgame, so taking inspiration from the storyline that introduced the New Avengers might be a smart move for the fifth instalment of the franchise.

Featuring a massive breakout at The Raft (in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that's the prison "Team Cap" were kept in during Captain America: Civil War), an unlikely team of heroes made up of characters like Captain America, Wolverine, Luke Cage, and Spider-Man came together to stop the escaping villains from causing chaos in New York City.

This leads to a confrontation with Electro and a trip to the Savage Land, and there are lots of elements here which could be adapted for the big screen.

There would definitely need to be some changes in order to make it feel bigger and more epic, but providing Marvel Studios continues jailing its bad guys rather than killing them, this has a ton of potential, and could lead to the long overdue return of some familiar faces, like Tim Roth's The Abomination.
