Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Plotholes That Almost Ruin It
8. Where Does Thor Go During The Climactic Battle?
During the climactic battle, all of the Avengers converge round Ultron's "key" to fight off the hordes of his drones and stop them from dropping the city out of the sky. There's a hero shot (inevitably) and lots of slow motion hyper-violence as the cannon fodder robots succumb to the Avengers' superior everything.
Just as it seems like hope is lost, and they're going to have to choose between killing everyone in the air or the entire world's population, Nick Fury's helicarrier appears and everyone manages to flee the city in a matter of minutes (best logistical operation EVER). The Avengers disperse to help the evacuation, while Iron Man attempts to enact his plan, which involves Thor hitting the core with a blast of lightning just as he shoots a power-beam out of his chest pulser.
Very complex, especially when you notice that Thor basically just wanders away for a while, leaving Scarlet Witch to defend the key alone (which she does right up until her brother is killed). What was more important than standing by his station waiting for Stark's instructions? Wasn't that sort of crucial for the plan to actually work?
