Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruin It

10. The Cringeworthy 'Marvel Comedy' Is Everywhere

It's Black Widow saying "Beep beep" as she thunders through the city, it's Hawkeye quipping to himself for an extended scene of self-reflection, it's Vision and Thor having a nice chat about how well Mjolnir handles mid-fight... it's Ultron forgetting his line halfway through an otherwise menacing monologue - all for the sake of having some levity in scenes that never need it. Literally every single time they try to have an emotional or remotely serious moment, it's interrupted either by a forced, badly written one-liner or something that addresses the situation they're in directly. If you ever thought The Hobbit movies were Return of the King's Legolas/Oliphant scene stretched over three films, Ultron is the "What is this? Shakespeare in the park?" bit from the first Avengers applied throughout. Levity and humour are completely fine when used appropriately - some scenes definitely call for it, and characters like Stark and Cap can have fun depending on the circumstances (the "Language!" joke is spot-on), but when you've built an entire advertising campaign around an evil villain only to have awkward, mid-sentence comments that destroy his presence and believability - it's just off-putting.
