Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 32 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References

10. The Frankenstein & Biblical References

Vision Infinity Stone
Marvel/Universal

The "son of the father" imagery is particularly strong throughout the film - including the Pinocchio nods - with Ultron going from messiah to God and monster as the arc develops.

At one point he actually quotes scripture ("upon this rock I will build my Church"), and the Vision as the messiah imagery is actually a little on the nose at times. It's all very sins of the father.

And then of course - on the same lines - there are references to the Frankenstein story: creating life, over-reaching scientifically and the monster eventually attempting to kill the creator.

Stark even goes as far as to liken himself and Banner to "monsters" when they discuss finishing Vision's creation (using the Infinity Stone), and then Thor intervening and using his lightening powers to bring Vision to life (to keep the stone away from Ultron) completes the image.
