8. Black Widow

How Would It Change The Franchise?By now, Natasha has connections to several of her teammates, most-notably Hawkeye. But there seems like there might be some hanky-panky going on between her and Cap in The Winter Soldier, and we've already seen her interactions with Stark and Banner in the previous films. Her death could be a rallying call for the team, much in the same way Coulson's death was against Loki in the first film. What impact would it have on the franchise, however, is less clear, other than it would open up a slot on the team's roster. One that could potentially be filled by the rumored Captain Marvel. Or it could introduce the other Black Widow from the comics, Yelena Belova, coming in to claim her predecessor's title. Will it Happen?Like with the Hulk, I'm of two minds, but for different reasons. On the one hand, Natasha's death may not have as much of an impact as would some of the others on this list and taking out one of only two women on the team would be bad PR. But then again, Scarlett Johansson is rumored to have butted heads with Marvel over salary negotiations, so they could choose to kill her off to replace her with a cheaper actress playing a different character, such as the aforementioned Captain Marvel or Belova.
