The Avengers: Age Of Ultron Movie: 7 Things From The Comic Arc That Should Be Included

2. Alternate Versions Of Characters

Age Of Ultron Alternate Tony Stark Messing with history is never a good idea in any source of fiction, as it always ends up having a detrimental effect on the present and the future. In the Age of Ultron comic arc, Wolverine's attack on the past version of Hank Pym completely changed the present that he returned to. When Wolverine returns to the present with Sue Storm, they find that the Savage Land is covered by a mass wreckage of crashed ships. Sue recognises them as being Kree ships and theorises that, in this new timeline, the Kree-Skrull War came to Earth. The pair see men in armour - calling themselves the "Starkguard" - checking the area out. The two then go to New York City, with multiple S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarriers flying/hovering around. Their flying car is shot down as they find themselves attacked by the Defenders (consisting of a one-eyed Captain America, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Wolverine, Thing, a one-eyed Cyclops, Wasp in Captain Marvel's costume and Star-Lord). The Thing is surprised to see Susan "back" but the rest of the group believe the two are Skrulls. A fight breaks out with the Wolverine of this altered present going at it against the time-travelling Wolverine, with the time-travelling Wolverine putting down his double and saying they did what they had to do to make a better world. The Defenders realise they are not Skrulls and reluctantly realise they have to talk to "him." At that moment, the "him" is revealed as a half-cyborg Tony Stark, who flies in with a platoon of armoured robots demanding to know what is going on. Having the Avengers experiencing something similar - with alternate versions of themselves encountering them in an altered present - would be a really unique concept in a comic book movie. Seeing the consequences of what they did would stir up a whole host of emotions and potential repercussions in the grand scheme of the Marvel cinematic universe.
