3. All Out War

One of the only real problems with the first Avengers movie was the uneven feel of the final third: in the absence of a specific large scale threat, it always felt like the Chitauri attack on New York was tacked on in the interest of raising the stakes. The problem with that, of course, was that the audience weren't particularly familiar with the alien race, and they were no more than cannon fodder (which sort of fit the agenda for hero moments) but ended up hollow in the longer term. That clearly won't be the case with Age Of Ultron: the climactic battle between his army and the patched up Avengers will be the culmination of the plot, as opposed to a swerve in direction. The gestation of his powers and then his forces will be heavily in focus throughout; his rise linked inherently to the decline of the Avengers, and when they finally face off it will be the stuff that real hero shots are made of. And if something awful were to happen in that sequence, then even better...
