Avengers: Endgame - 10 Secrets We Just Learned From The Writers At Comic-Con

9. The Reverse Snap Was Almost VERY Different

That moment in Endgame where the Avengers assemble on the battlefield to face Thanos and his armies is one of the best moments in the MCU, a dramatic, thrilling, one-of-a-kind scene that we probably won't get to see for quite some time.

But it was almost nothing like that. In fact, one iteration - according to McFeely - was played for a quick laugh.

"We had one where they all come back to the compound. Boom, there they are, you hear, 'Mr Stark' and there's Peter coming around the corner. And then we cut five minutes and they're all eating pizza. It was terrible."

This idea probably didn't make it into any polished drafts of the script, because even by reading that sentence, it's obvious that this would've been a joke too far. Maybe it would've been funny on opening night in a packed theatre, but long-term, the more "serious" option that they went with will have a bigger impact.

Would it have even made sense for the Avengers to sit around eating pizza while Thanos and his armies lurk nearby? Presumably, this version of the story still had some sort of third-act threat for them to deal with.
