It's not much of a secret that Chris Evans was initially incredibly hesitant to play Steve Rogers in the MCU, though this wasn't in any way a reflection of the perceived quality of Cap's first solo outing, but fear over being tied into such an intense career commitment.

In his own words, Evans said, "The only reason there was hesitation to begin with was the commitment. It's a big movie and, you know, those are the movies that if they succeed, there's a change, a lifestyle change. And if it fails, it's a whole other can of worms."

Hilariously, the MCU's long-tenured casting director Sarah Finn confirmed that this hesitation only made Marvel Studios pursue Evans more doggedly.

She said, "Even Chris' reluctance to be a star spoke to how right he was for the role, because Captain America was not looking for the limelight. He was humble, he was modest. He needed to feel that in his bones."
