The pivotal scene on Vormir in which Black Widow eventually sacrifices herself to unlock the Soul Stone for Hawkeye was reshot later in production, and the original version of the scene was really quite different.

Originally, Thanos sent a small army to Vormir that would pretend to try and stop them from retrieving the Soul Stone, but it was ultimately deemed "awkward" and "overthinking" the situation in the edit room.

While the appearance of the army motivated Natasha to make her sacrifice, it also removed some of her agency, and in the edit room the team came up with the idea of them trying to stop each other from killing themselves instead.

McFeely added that the final version of the scene was "much better than what we had", and that the original version was "a little more complicated."
