Avengers Endgame: 5 Things You Didn't Know About Ronin
We're about to hit peak MCU Hawkeye...
One of the most exciting things about the upcoming Avengers Endgame is Hawkeye's taking up of the Ronin identity, with the footage we've seen of the character making him out to be incredibly badass - something which will perhaps help bring the MCU Barton onto more favourite character lists.
But, with us never having actually seen this version of the hero on-screen, there are a lot of unknowns surrounding how this Barton will vary from how we've previously seen him in the MCU.
Thankfully, there are a whole host of comics for us to reference, some of which provide some very interesting facts surrounding Ronin, ones you likely don't know...
5. The Original Ronin Was Echo...
One of the many arcs in Bendis' long, excellent run on the Avengers was the mystery of the identity of Ronin - who had made their first appearance in this series.
While it was heavily hinted that the character was a classic Marvel hero (something we'll get onto later), the person under the mask was actually revealed to be Maya Lopez AKA Echo.
Lopez originated in Quesada and Mack's Daredevil run, having both fought against and been romantically involved with Murdock. However, much like Daredevil, Echo has a disability along with her brilliant fighting skills - with her being deaf.
Again, like the man without fear, this has not deterred Lopez, the character kicking a whole host of butt since her introduction.
So, sure, Hawkeye may now be the most famous of Marvel's Ronins, but Echo was the original.
