Avengers: Endgame Review - 11 Ups & 4 Downs
1. Some Of The CGI Is Really, Really Bad (In IMAX At Least)
This might be a problem limited to the IMAX screenings, but that's something a traditional screen watcher will have to confirm down in the comments. Basically, a lot of the CGI in the first act is extremely ropey.
The sequence showing Ant-Man's experiments into time travel are a particularly glaring example as Paul Rudd's face is digitally added to his suit visor and somehow looks magnified massively.
Worse still is the distracting green screen work in most of the Avengers Facility sequences. Whether that's more down to IMAX rather than poor effects work remains to be seen, but the decision to shoot so many of the backgrounds in those sequences and dding digital backgrounds costs the film something in the highest definition.
That also goes for the emaciated Tony Stark from right at the start and one de-aged character from one of the "time heist" sequences, who aren't quite right under the added scrutiny of IMAX.
