Avengers: Endgame Runtime Confirmed By Russos
Whatever it takes... to not go to the toilet.
The runtime of Avengers: Endgame has been the subject of a lot of speculation over recent weeks, with the question being whether or not the movie would really go to three-hours as the Russos had said they'd been testing, and if so, exactly how long that would be.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed it's going to be a three-hour epic, and given a _very_ specific answer as to what length the final cut clocks in at:
"I think it's three hours and fifty-eight seconds," Joe Russo said. He jokingly added: "We just sped up the credits is what we did."
So there we have it: three hours and one minute of Marvel Cinematic Universe-ending goodness. That is, by some distance, the longest MCU movie to date, outstripping last year's Infinity War by just over half-an-hour. It also makes it the longest superhero movie ever made, beating out The Dark Knight Rises (2h45m) and Watchmen (2h42m).
That's going to make it a long time sitting in the cinema, especially for the movie's younger fans, but at this point the Russos have earned a steadfast trust in what they're doing. Three hours sounds excessive on paper, but if that's what they deem necessary to tell the story - and there is a hell of a lot to try and wrap up - then we can assume it's what's for the best. Best stay off going large on the drinks, because no one is going to want to miss a minute of this movie.
