Feige has spoken extensively about Infinity War acting as a climax and culmination of the series thus far and Tony's death is the logical conclusion of this decade of Marvel films. He has appeared in eight MCU films and has served as one of the series' guiding forces. Losing him will feel as if Thanos has truly brought destruction and death to the core cast of characters and that is exactly what this film is going for.

His death has been teased in the latest trailer and even more thoroughly hinted at in the newest poster, which has him striking a Christ-like pose at the center of everything.

Even as Stark has remained a central character throughout, he is also directly responsible for many of the biggest challenges the universe has faced. Iron Monger, Justin Hammer, Aldrich Killian, and Ultron were all villains that he was directly responsible for creating. In Civil War, he was the villain himself, the opposing force to Captain America's philosophy. Now, Tony Stark will finally get what's been coming to him for so many years.
