It's well-documented that Nebula has had a tumultuous relationship with her adoptive father Thanos, and how galling would it be for the Mad Titan to eliminate his own family to prove his overpowering ruthlessness?

It would be nothing if not a stakes-raising moment, and feels consistent with the clear evidence that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will distinctly humanise Nebula by making her part of the Guardians.

This could also result in some terrific drama for Zoe Saldana's Gamora, who will have to deal with the devastation of losing her sister and reflect on the complicated, often adversarial, nature of their relationship.

No word on the length of her contract, so all bets are off, basically.
