10. Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury has been missing in action since Age of Ultron, having only had a cameo in Agents of SHIELD in between the second Avengers film and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but he's a hero that has to making a return shortly.
With a role in Captain Marvel now guaranteed, we'll finally be getting a look at Fury's past, but it's his future that concerns us the most. What has he gotten up to since Age of Ultron? Has he, as rumours would have you believe, been fighting the Red Skull? Perhaps, but either way, it's hard to envision Fury sitting this particular fight out, especially when he played such an integral part during the first occasion when Thanos came knocking at Earth's door.
While not an Avenger per se, Fury is the de facto team leader and the man responsible for their formation. Were he not to feature in the OG team's last bow, it just wouldn't make sense, even if he was only going to impart a few words of wisdom like he did in Age of Ultron.
