The tone of this trailer is one of foreboding; there's a real focus on the sense of dread that Thanos carries, and a clear indication that the stakes are higher than they ever have been before.

There are also, however, some jokes, with both Star-Lord and Peter Parker attempting to crack funnies in the face of the universe ending.

That is merely in keeping with the MCU as a whole, although it can be hit and miss. Levity is important when it's potentially a darker film, but too much risks undercutting that tone. There are only a couple of quips here - and the Spider-Man one at the end is excellent - but how much will there be overall? The Russos have shown they know how to balance this better than perhaps any other directors in the MCU, and the signs are they've done so again.
