3. Thanos Wants To Save The Universe From Itself

As soon as the Infinity War arc was revealed with Thanos' first appearance at the end of The Avengers, the question of his romantic motivation became pretty pertinent. Would we be seeing a version of his seduction of a personified Lady Death? Was that why there was mention of "courting death" early on?

It seems now that his motivation is something else entirely. Like all the best complex villains, Thanos believes himself to be a positive force for change. According to a Toys R Us bio for him, he wants to save the universe from itself, presumably by destroying lots of it and starting again.

There'a nothing to suggest the Toys R Us bios are wrong even if they aren't entirely official and it makes a lot more sense that Thanos is on a mission of skewed integrity to rebuild the galaxy in his ideal image rather than the more frivolous romantic agenda.

A little less silly as well.
