Avengers: Infinity War - 15 Major Rumours You Need To See

Infinity War is going to expand the known MCU universe significantly, according to production designer Charles Wood, who revealed the key detail to ComicBook.com:

Any time you turn that page on this script, you’re kind of staggered, blown away, terrified by what’s in front of you. I think rather like Doctor Strange, you’ll find this film, it’s not regurgatative [sic], yeah? What I’m trying to say, is, there are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film.

Several responses to that have suggested that the film will probably partly show Thanos’ journey from his space hideout to Earth and that he will be exploring (read destroying) multiple planets on the way. Just to flex his muscles, apparently.

The rumour itself is golden, since the production designer has confirmed it - it's just the interpretation that's up for... erm... interpretation. While it would be arresting to see Thanos killing his way across the galaxy, it's a pointless distraction, given that he knows where at least some of the Stones are (or so it implied by him overseeing the galaxy). Why wouldn't he just head straight to Xandar? Or Asgard?

Personally, I think it's more likely we'll see the "many, many new worlds" either building Thanos' threat in flashback, or talking more about the history of the stones. Whether the Avengers and their expanded ensemble mates go to any of those new worlds remains to be seen, given how Earth-locked most of them are.
