7. "We Will Deep Fry Your Kebab"

This may not be a clever or crowd-pleasing comic book reference, but it sure is an hilarious reference to Scottish "dining" culture. Moments before Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are attacked in Edinburgh, the two stand outside the very, very cinematic locale of a kebab shop for a heart-to-heart.

It's kinda tough to take the scene seriously, though, if you notice the sign on the right-hand side of the screen, which proudly declares "We will deep fry your kebab."

This is clearly a cheeky nod on the part of the film's production team, given Scotland's well-noted love of deep-fried food, and the sheer absurdity of them taking an entire kebab meal and dipping it in the deep fryer.

Rather than take offence to a major Hollywood movie making light of Scottish culinary habits, though, Scots were true to form and lovingly embraced the "tribute" with all their might.
