Avengers: Infinity War - Everything We Know So Far

5. ...But That Probably Won't Include Any TV Characters

We all want to see it, but it is very unlikely that any of the MCU's TV characters will show up in Infinity War.

For starters, the most prominent creative forces on the movie have repeatedly given a soft 'no' when asked about the possibility, time and time again.

Here's what Kevin Feige had to say to Collider about the subject:

"I think it’s extremely impressive what Netflix has done and it will be the same answer I always give, which is, 'It all depends on timing.' It all depends on how to do it because I don’t think what anybody wants to do is have such important characters show up for one second."

To translate Feige's PR-lingo, he's essentially saying "no" - not in Infinity War, anyway.

Given the amount of characters that have to appear in the project, slotting in The Defenders would almost certainly leave them with an almost non-existent amount of screen time, something Feige just said he doesn't want.

The amount of characters in the movie is also an issue for Joe and Anthony Russo, and when asked about The Defenders appearing in Infinity War, they had this to say to BadTaste (via CinemaBlend):

"The Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormous. Just think of all the characters that haven't been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we're working on Infinity War. We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television universe. It's certainly something we're considering. But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side."

It's clear that the powers-that-be don't want to outright rule out the possibility because they're keeping that door open for future use, but currently, they're focused on their movie characters; and building a great story with just those will be hard enough.
