Avengers: Infinity War - Predicting All 67 Characters

21-17. Guardians Of The Galaxy (Original Group)

Ever since their cinematic debut took the D-List heroes to the A-List, everyone's expected the Guardians Of The Galaxy to team up with The Avengers in Infinity War, and while there's been no confirmation yet, everything - from the film's planned cosmic-leanings to the way the Russo's discuss the rag-tag group - points towards this happening. So expect Star-Lord to be sharing quips with Iron Man and Groot to be squaring up with Hulk.

16. Mantis

There's also the matter of the new member of the team, who has been alluded to by James Gunn and rumoured to be Mantis (allegedly played by Pom Klementieff). Unless we've got a Quicksilver situation, that puts the Guardians roster at six going into Infinity War.

15. Nova Prime

As the Nova Corps have one of the Infinity Stones locked up, it's a fair bet we'll visit Xandar so Thanos can get his golden mits on it (assuming something doesn't happen to the Power Stone in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, which, given how Marvel's wanting each stand-alone to be distinct, is unlikely). With that event will most likely come Glenn Close's Nova Prime for another fun bit-part.

14. Rhomann Dey

And, given how prominent Rhomann Dey was in the original Guardians, it's within reason that John C. Reilly will also reprise his role as the Nova Corps member - it's a nice way to give us a connection to whatever may happen on Xandar.

13. The Collector

Benicio Del Toro has recently stated he doesn't expect to be back for Guardians 2, but will be happy to reprise his role as The Collector down the line, something that is highly possible in Infinity War; like Nova Prime, he's in possession of one of the Infinity Stones (Sif and Volstagg gave him the Ether in Thor: The Dark World's post-credits scene), which Thanos will likely bear down on him for.

12. Nebula

The first Guardians made a big point of Nebula surviving Ronan's attack on Xander, setting up her return in the sequel. And while it could be suggested she'll wind up being the main villain of Vol. 2 and die at the end, her relationship with father Thanos means she's more likely to live long enough to be a henchman (or turncoat) in Infinity War.

11. Peter Quill's Father

We will definitely get to meet Star-Lord's father in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and while conventional blockbuster logic dictates he'd die there too in some form of character motivation, his likely link to the bigger cosmic side of the world (he's ancient and unknown to the Nova Corps, after all), makes it very possible he'll stick around to, at the very least, part some wisdom in Infinity War. The only way it would be unlikely is if those rumours from a couple of months back turn out to be true (no spoilers here, but that character needs to die for their successor to be created).
