Avengers: Infinity War - Predicting All 76 Characters

66. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr)

Status: Confirmed

This might be his penultimate outing as Tony Stark, but we know Robert Downey Jr is involved just as surely as Thanos is. He's got emotional conflict to deal with by the look of the trailer and he'll be teaming up with Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Hulk at the very least again to help protect New York from Thanos' invading underlings.

Expect him to also head to space to meet the Guardians at some point too.

The likelihood is that he won't be killed in Infinity War, but he might end up having to complete his arc with a heroic sacrifice in the follow-up. That would be very Tony Stark, after all.

65. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow)

Status: Unconfirmed

Since she returned for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Pepper is likely to appear at least briefly at Tony Stark's side. After all, what better way to make him emotionally vulnerable than by having her in harm's way?

She's already confirmed herself in Avengers 4 too, so it'd be odd if she didn't appear here without good reason.

64. Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau)

Status: Unconfirmed

If Tony Stark is there, Happy is usually by his side and though he's moved on from being Stark's bodyguard, he was last seen shipping weapons to the new Avengers facility in his new role. So he's either going to be at the new facility or at Stark HQ, both of which are likely to appear briefly.

63. Jim Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle)

War Machine
Marvel Studios

Status: Confirmed

Thanks to the trailer, we know War Machine is back on the Avengers scene even after he was left paralysed in Captain America: Civil War and that he heads to Wakanda to help in the fight against the Black Order. Presumably he will have been assisted with his walking by some more Stark tech, as Don Cheadle has already hinted.

Curiously, he's not there with Tony Stark, who must head to space while most of the rest of the Avengers are deployed with Captain America to shore up T'Challa's defences. It's good to have him back in action, but maybe don't expect a great deal from him.
