23. Snap

The trailer opens by setting out Thanos' goals, and the Mad Titan isn't here to f**k around, as Gamora explains:

"The entire time I knew him, he only ever had one goal: to wipe out half the universe."

That's kind of what you'd expect from someone who brands himself the Mad Titan, actually, and it further confirms that Thanos' motivation is being changed from the comics (where he courts Death). The EW coverage revealed that he considers himself to be 'saving the universe', which is also in keeping with the megalomaniacal villain angle.

We get a shot of him dropping an Infinity Stone into the Gauntlet, and what comes next is a lovely/horrible bit of foreshadowing, as Gamora tell us that, with all the Stones, he could accomplish his goal with a snap of his fingers. That, of course, is exactly what Thanos does in the comics, and there's a thrilling chance we'll see it happen here. IMAGINE if the movie ending with the snap, and then a cut to black, before a reveal of the Avengers 4 title.
